2018 Nunn-Perry Award Recipient

People, Technology and Processes, LLC, (PTP), a Tampa-based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business together with Tec-Masters, Inc. (TMI) in Huntsville, AL, were selected as a 2018 recipient of the prestigious Nunn-Perry award.

The award, named in honor of former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn and former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry, was first awarded in 1995 and recognizes mentor-protégé teams that have excelled in technical developments and cost effectiveness, and who have demonstrated exemplary efforts in providing products and services to our nation’s warfighters.

PTP received notice of the award from the Department of Defense earlier this month; “On behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), we would like to extend our congratulations. It is [our] great pleasure to inform you that Tec-Masters, Inc. (TMI) and People, Technology and Processes, LLC., have been selected to receive the 2018 Nunn-Perry Award. The prestigious award recognizes your team’s superb performance this year as a participant in the Mentor-Protégé Program.”

Recognizes the ‘best and the brightest’
“Your performance during Fiscal Year 18 has truly made an impact on the Department’s Industrial Base. Thank you for your support, dedication and superior achievements…,” the DoD notice continued.
Victor Buonamia, CEO and President of PTP, was elated at the notification; “PTP is honored to be named a 2018 recipient of the Nunn-Perry award with TMI. Such an honor is a great testament to the dedication, hard work, and determination of our employees in supporting our nation’s warfighters. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and to bring this award home to Tampa. I have great confidence in PTP and our growing capabilities to meet the future uncertainties and challenges facing the Department of Defense.”
This year, of 21 Mentor-Protégé teams that participated in the competition nation-wide only ten were named as recipients, with only one in the Tampa area.

A ‘special breed’
According to the OSBP, Protégés go through a rigorous selection process to ensure they have the potential to provide state-of-the-art, exceptional service to DoD.

“I, and the majority of PTP’s employees, are prior military combat veterans, many with Special Operations backgrounds;” stated Mr. Buonamia, “…and we maintain a deep connection and continuing commitment to those who serve in harm’s way. We’re extremely proud of our track record of support and in hiring veterans and the significant contributions they continue to make.”
Nicole Buonamia, PTP’s Chief Financial Officer remarked; “This wasn’t easy. OSBP selects recipients by carefully analyzing each Protégé’s development, growth and the value of their assistance to DoD’s missions and challenges. We were able to double our growth in 2018 and we are expecting the same results in 2019. We are extremely proud, together with TMI, to be named a 2018 recipient of this award and the incredible achievements it represents.”
The Chief Operating Officer for PTP, Randy Brown, also commented, saying; “This award recognizes small, agile, innovative businesses like PTP are critical to strengthening DoD’s industrial base and increasing its depth of defense suppliers. While we’re extremely proud of this award and our achievements, we take greater pride in our day-to-day efforts in serving and supporting the men and women of the military who freely volunteer to help keep America safe.”

An awards ceremony for the 2018 recipients will be held during the DoD Mentor-Protégé Training Week Workshop in September 2019.
PTP, established in 2010, is a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)™ Level 3 and ISO 9001:2015, ISO: 20000, ISO: 27001, and CVE-certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Their Main Office is located in Tampa, FL with satellite offices in Greenbelt, MD, Huntsville, AL, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Lawton, OK.
